Addison Mizner and Palm Beach

When resort developer Addison Mizner moved to Palm Beach in 1918, the resort lifestyle was beginning to lose popularity in the fashionable, elite circles of society. Influenced by Guatemalan and San Francisco colonial structures, he introduced his Mediterranean Revival style to one of Florida's most prestigious beaches and won the patronage of the communities wealthiest residents.  Palm Beach's Worth Avenue District has especially embraced this style. This past week, I was fortunate to spend a few days in the area and was, of course, impressed by Mizner's architectural influences.

Notable structures include The Breakers Hotel, The Everglades Club and El Mirasol.
