I love the look of vintage typewriters as decor. They lend a sense of history and masculinity to a space. Whether they're used as bookends, as a table display, or paired with other vintage pieces like cameras typewriters are artistic sculptures worthy of showing off. The design of the typewriter was redefined in the 1930's by Italian manufacturer Olivetti. With a focus on the corporate user, he developed a rectangular space bar and strategically-placed keys. Olivetti's design is so appreciated in the art world, the MoMA added it to their permanent collection.
Because of their industrial edge, typewriters look great in a loft space or city apartment. On the other hand, they add good balance to a traditional room.
